The Story of Our New Home!

The Blossom and Basket
Boutique began in the lovely small building (pictured below) located at
228 South Main Street, Mount Airy, Maryland. We purchased the business in
the spring of 2001, opened for business on April 4, 2001, and operated
from this location for six years.
We needed more space,
however, and found the building located at 3 North Main Street (pictured
above) around the first of the year 2007. The building had originally been
the home of a plumbing company, and for the two years just prior to our
occupation, was the temporary home of the Mount Airy Town Hall, while the
Town Hall building was under renovation. The town vacated the building on
the first of March, 2007, and within a week, we began the process of
altering the building to suit our needs.

As you look at the new
building, originally there were three rooms on the lower level, right hand
side. We tore out the walls, acoustic tile and carpets in the entire area.
We painted the open ceiling beams black and installed crown molding. Rene
selected the fabulous lighting, blue and green wall colors, and gray trim,
resulting in the spectacular spacious showroom we now enjoy.

As you look at the
building, the two offices on the left on the lower level were combined
into one large design room. We now have more than four times the space we
had in the old shop.

We now have a separate
delivery/preparation area where flowers are processed after arriving at
the shop, accessed from a loading dock. This area has its own air
conditioner, so the flowers can be kept cool. We also brought our walk-in
cooler from the old building.

We are thrilled to
have this fabulous consultation area, where we can meet privately with
prospective brides and folks planning large events. This is the front
room, left side as you're looking at the building, second floor.

We used to have two
rented storage areas because we had such a small shop. Now we have this
wonderful room upstairs (right side as you're looking at the building). We
use this room as work space to create multiple gift baskets. The second
floor also houses our store office, the kitchen, and a lunchroom, not
shown.

We operated out of the
old building until the close of business on Saturday, April 21st. We
opened in our new location at 9am on April 23, 2007.
We invite you to visit
us for a tour of our new home!
